The American Sustainable Business Council has been privileged to
be a part of the national voter
mobilization movement this year, leading up to the
general election of 2020. As part of this ongoing effort,
recognizing that elections occur more than every four years, ASBC
will be leading an effort to get out the vote in Georgia for the
run-off elections on January 5, 2021. Because
neither Senate race produced a definitive
majority, each race will go to a runoff election, which
will determine which party holds the majority in the
Senate for the next two years.
The implications for this election will affect the policy
advocacy work that ASBC continues to do over the next few
years. Such issues that will be affected include promoting
income equality to strengthen the middle class, addressing
climate change, upgrading public infrastructure, promoting an
equitable tax system, supporting a diverse and inclusive society,
fostering innovation in safer chemicals and sustainable products
and packaging, supporting clean water and regenerative
agriculture and encouraging new models of employee
ownership
ASBC believes that a strong and inclusive economy
cannot exist without a strong and inclusive democracy,
and we support all businesses in Georgia that believe in doing
responsible, sustainable work. If you work for a business
operating in Georgia that is interested in having their work
elevated and promoted, please reach out here.
We will be pursuing the following four actions until January
5:
