Rep. Peters, Sen. Coons Introduce Legislation to Re-assert U.S. Climate Leadership and Support American Workers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Scott Peters (CA-52) and U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) unveiled new, bicameral legislation to establish a border carbon adjustment (BCA) on polluting imports. Imposing a BCA will protect U.S. jobs, reduce global emissions, and provide enhanced support to communities that suffer the worst effects of climate change.
No one Administration is responsible for the current small business startup slump, the lowest rate of small business startups in four decades. Even before the pandemic recession it was clear that the growing economy and record low unemployment did not translate into ramping up the business startup numbers that we need. The pandemic has only worsened these numbers. The nation will not reverse this problem unless a specific federal agency is given the mission, authority and resources to address the issue along with establishing specific and measurable goals.
The ASBC stands with the Biden Harris administration in their sweeping progress made across economic and social policies in their first month in office. President Biden’s recent executive orders will advance an equitable, just future for all Americans.
